Madonna shines at VMA awards

On Sunday evening, the Queen of Pop proved she owned the stage once again at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.
Madonna took to the VMA stage for the fifth time and her first in 23 years after the July release of her fifteenth studio album Confessions II.
The Icon opened the show with a fog-infused dance sequence that included the spoken intro from "One Step Away" with Madonna perched on a piano played by pop princess Sabrina Carpenter as they performed their duet "Bring Your Love."
The singer was then joined by Charlie XCX to perform their "Danceteria Afterhours" remix that dropped on Friday.
Madonna recreated the club bathroom "Danceteria" set from her Confessions II-The Film release featuring a array of Sunday evening cameos including Julia Garner, Seth Rogen, Debi Mazar, Sombr, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tony Ward and Andrew Watt.
Sporting a bustier, blazer and thigh-high boots, Madonna brought the dance floor to the stage.
The singer went into the evening tied with Lady Gaga with the most VMA nominations of all-time at 13.
During the show, she picked up awards for Artist of the Year, Best Dance and Best Collaboration with Carpenter.
Overall, she ended up with 7 awards, picking up Best Album, Best Long Form Video, Best Choreography and Best Cinematography off-air.
Madonna accepted the Best Dance award by sharing her love of the genre, "Dance brings everybody together. We are all equal on the dance floor."
