Kaleido fire up crowd at Diesel Concert Lounge

Updated: Jul 23, 2019

Kaleido stormed the stage at Diesel Concert Lounge in Chesterfield, Michigan on Friday night where they were celebrating the release of their new EP, NO RLY...I'M FINE.

The release features 4 hard-hitting tracks that find the Detroit rock band showcasing a heavier turn, including their current single "Pretending," a anthem for those dealing with mental health issues.

The song was co-produced with Michael Martenson and Jake Cemer (Boys of Fall.)

"Eating Me Alive" and "Blood!" have already become staples of the Kaleido live set and the powerful "My Fire" gives vocalist Christina Chriss another chance to show off her versatile vocal skills.

Friday's hometown show found all four tracks being performed during the band's rocking set, as well as the physical EP's bonus track, their last single "My Enemy."

Alongside the new tracks were a number of older tracks, as well as some from the band's last release Experience.

The show was a celebration of both the band's past and future and those who packed the venue greeted both the new and older songs with the same high level of enthusiasm.

That energy was repaid ten-fold by the band who threw themselves completely into every song.

Chriss worked the stage from one end to the other, chatting with the fans throughout while Joey Fava furiously held things down on the drums and Cody Morales kept things rolling on bass with the help of touring guitarist Kyle Labuta.

Not ready for the show to end, the packed house chanted for more, prompting the band to return to the stage for a two-song encore that ended with the band's signature single "Jane," a track built around Chriss' "alter ego."

Kaleido will be out playing shows throughout the Summer in support of the release. They recently wrapped up a run with Stitched Up Heart and played in New Jersey for the Warped Tour 25th Anniversary.

The band is also fresh off of a performance on the WDIV Detroit Annual Fireworks Telecast and recently won a award for Outstanding Alt/Indie/Punk Artist at the 2019 Detroit Music Awards.
