Austin-based singer/songwriter and powerhouse guitarist, Emily Wolfe has returned with her new single “Lips,” which features Jesse Hughes of Eagles of Death Metal.
The single is available now through Judge & Jury Records.
"Lips" marks Wolfe’s first single of many that will eventually form an album. The song exudes an equal amount of chemistry and swagger.
A mix of 70's and 80's rock with a modern twist, the track also features production from Gavin Brown (Three Days Grace, Barenaked Ladies, Metric) who gives the song its freshness.
Wolfe has long been a Eagles of Death Metal fan and was eager to work with Hughes, "I've seen his band play for years whenever they came through Austin. The label set up a session for us to see what would happen and " Lips" came out of that. It was great!"
She says he was really cool to watch because he did things very different from her in the studio so she learned a lot.
"He has a great drive and he's very flamboyant and bombastic. I'm more reserved in my daily life. I do try to pull that out in live performances, just turn it up to the next level. So it was a blast to feel that in the studio," Wolfe shared.
She so enjoyed the collaboration that she is open to more of it. There has been talk about collaborating with Tool's Adam Jones, another band she has long admired.
When asked about who else she'd enjoy collaborating with, she said Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age or Heart's Nancy Wilson.
Wolfe plans on releasing singles at a steady pace throughout the rest of the year and will also be playing some May shows with Yungblud and The Warning as well as a couple of upcoming music festivals.
Looking ahead, Wolfe says her biggest goal is to hopefully sell out a string of shows, "My favorite thing to do is play live so my big goal in this moment is to get the music out there to those people coming to the shows and all rock fans. I know how hard it is to get people out to listen to music. So my goal is to just make music and to make the show so worth seeing that it can't be missed!"
